Energy Guardian is a cost-effective way for you to reduce your institution's energy bill and perhaps also teach your students more about energy in the process.

Importantly, you won't need to commit much time to managing your energy-saving programme. We will do all the hard work for you - analysing your energy data remotely and then providing you with easy-to-read reports and recommendations on how you can save money.

Working together over the course of a project to reduce your energy spend, we will fit a sophisticated smart-metering system into your buildings to show you how much you are spending on lighting, heating / air-conditioning and general mains use. We monitor these remotely and feed back to you every month with analysis and recommendations. Over the course of the project we will take you through a programme of energy-savings ideas that we have seen work for many of our existing clients, ranging from schools and public sector offices to large and small companies in the UK and abroad.

We also provide some plug-in Smart Meters to monitor individual electrical devices and offer lesson ideas that can be incorporated into the curriculum to teach students more about energy, how it is used and how to save energy at home.

Typically, you will save at least 20% of your annual energy bill. These savings are largely made by encouraging you, your colleagues and your students to understand more about the impact your choices make and to encourage behaviour change to a better way of working. We can automate some processes - such as the automatic shutting down of PCs and other electrical items - but, by and large, the primary savings are made through better comprehension and the adoption of more environmental procedures and practices. The Energy Guardian service will recommend practices appropriate for your site, and explain how to achieve them in the shortest possible time.

We expect you to save a significant amount on your annual energy spend, and so we expect that the cost of working with us will be negative or, at the very least, free. You may also be able to get a grant to help you to fund your Energy Guardian costs.
